Meet the Board of Directors Of Premier Basketball League

*Rex Voils, Board Member-Indianapolis Diesels

Beginning in 2011, the Indiana Diesels originally played two seasons in Columbus, Indiana before outgrowing their home facility and moved to Indianapolis. In 2013 the Diesels fell just short of the championship series when they lost in the semi-finals. However, Voils, would put together the team that would help get the Diesels there soon after.

In 2014 the Diesels became the Midwest division champions and were only one game away from winning their first ever PBL title, before dropping game three to the Rochester Razorsharks. Rex Voils would go on to receive the Executive Of The Year in 2014.

*Dr. Severko Hrywnak originally owned a team in the ABA before he believed a higher level of professionalism could be brought to minor league basketball and he decided to start the Premier Basketball League. He founded the league in 2007 and the inaugural season kicked off in 2008. Outside of the PBL Dr. Hrywnak is a successful businessman. He has developed multi-million dollar commercial, residential and medical complexes in the Chicago area. He is also currently the President and CEO of Advanced Ambulatory Surgical Center in Chicago as well as the Elmwood Park Immediate Health Care Centers.

Premier Basketball League

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
*Harry Marshall, Indianapolis Diesels

Harry Marshall of the Indianapolis Diesels is one of the players that has been around the team longer than others and he understands their system to put up points.
This past weekend in a sweep over the neighboring rival, Danville Riverhawks, he showed that knowledge and became this week's PBL Player of the Week.

Two games made Marshall eligible for this award, however, his production on Friday, January 16th we found to be even more impressive. Marshall scored a season-high 34 points, had seven assists and three rebounds in a 112-98 victory over the Riverhawks. Making these stats even more impressive was that the Diesels were on the road in this game against a Danville team who proved already to be very strong at home.

However, two days later Marshall did score 30 points, eight assists and have four steals when they defeated the Riverhawks in a tight 101-95 victory.

Between the two games Marshall went to the free-throw line 12 times and sunk 22 out of 24 shots to help his team take advantage of an aggressive Danville defense.

Marshall and the Diesels will host the Racine Storm, who are second place in the PBL Midwest and have the league's second highest scorer, Anthony Spencer.

Diesels win second straight against the Riverhawks

By: Nathan Pace

A dominant third quarter fueled the Indianapolis Diesels to 101-95 win over their nearby rival in the Danville Riverhawks.

The Diesels began the second half on a 17-8 run after leading at halftime 47-45. Indianapolis coach Aaron Hogg inserted a smaller lineup that pushed the tempo and resulted in transition baskets for the Diesels. Indianapolis outscored Danville 30-23 in the quarter for a 77-68 lead.

The Riverhawks did not quit, cutting the Diesels lead to 96-92 with a minute remaining in the fourth. On its next possession, Danville guard Justin Childs attempted two corner three-pointers but missed both. The Riverhawks were forced to foul as Diesel guard Corey Wicker converted four free-throws to seal the game.

Guard Harry Marshall lead Indianapolis with 27 points and was assisted with 23 from Wicker. Marshall had 40 points in Indy’s win at Danville Friday night. Brandon McGee, Noah Douglas, and Chris Ames would score in double figures on the afternoon.

Guard Cedric Ridle led the Riverhawks with a game-high 31 points.

Danville dropped to 2-5 while Indianapolis improved to 4-3. It’s the first time the defending Midwest champions have been on the plus side of .500 this season as Indianapolis is still undefeated at home.

Greetings!

On behalf of the City of Indianapolis, it is my pleasure welcome the Indianapolis Diesels, a minor league basketball team of the Premier Basketball League.

In addition to providing a great spectator sport and adding to the City’s rich sporting culture, the Indianapolis Diesels are committed to being a good community partner. I applaud their charitable foundation, Victory Sports Education Program (VSEP), which promotes the benefits of exercise, proper diet, physical fitness, and wellness to encourage local youth to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The VESP has adopted the 5-2-1-0 Everyday program which stresses better eating habits and more exercise as well as the No Bull project to address bullying with its consequences. I encourage schools to consider using these resources to enhance their own curricula. The well-being and success of our community depends on caring and engaged citizens and organizations.

I commend the Indianapolis Diesels for their dedication and service to their new home.

Best regards,

Gregory A. Ballard Mayor
